How To Hire A Concrete Contractor
There are many ways to hunt down a contractor.
Way # 1
As “word of mouth” is a powerful form of advertising first contact your friends, neighbours and co-workers for recommendations. Go to their home and check out the concrete work done for them.
Ask them some questions
- Would they recommend the contractor?
- Was the project finished on time?
- Did they stay close to the quoted costs?
- Did any defective work get fixed promptly?
- Was there good communication with the contractor?
If they have a good experience with a particular contractor, prepare yourself to contact him.
Way # 2
Internet, Yellow Pages and phone books are also a good way to start. Searching online websites give you pretty much information about a local contractor including his areas of skill, his previous experiences, his phone number, address etc. A good website will have photos of past projects and a complete description of the contractor’s services. This can save you a lot of leg work by allowing you to review colour options, designs, and a portfolio before you even meet the contractor in person.
Way # 3
Go to some reliable local concrete supplier stores. They will definitely know all local concrete contractors and will give their recommendations and thus you can get an appraisal at no cost. Some stores have their own concrete contractors’ team.
Way # 4
Visit a prestigious and well-respected concrete constructor association. It’ll be a good source of information in hiring a contractor. If a contractor is a member of that association, that will give you the assurance that he’ll give you quality work.
Way # 5
Another option is driving around the neighbourhood and looking for nice examples of workmanship. If you’re attracted by their concrete work, stop and ask the homeowner about the details of the contractor.
